Citroen wiring diagrams

Post by tomsheppard »

When reading one of these, there are often two colour codes on a wire connector, one having a horizontal bar above it, and the other without.
Is the bar meant to represent the sleeve over the end of the cable?
This would mean that the other colour is the cable itself.
I understand the rest of the map but this has me a little baffled.
Does anyone know?

Hi Tom [:)]
For some weird reasons, only known by french engineers having consumed lots of local red liquid, this code in fact means the <i>opposite</i> as you think [8D]
The vertical bar over the letter codes in diagrams, means the base colour of the wire.
Plain letter codes <i>without</i> the bar refers to the colour of sleeves (connector housing base colour) OR the 10mm coloured bar printed on most wires.
Logic - is'nt it [?][:D][:o)]
And the letter codes are just plain abbreviations for colour designations - in french of course [:p]
But there is more : on newer generation Citroen models electric diagrams, this system is DIScontinued, now instead using a letter/digit code, which happily they decided to actually print on the wires fitted in car.
C'est la vie avec Citroennes mon ami.
