Xantia growling noise!!

When accelerating in my td xant, at about 1500-2500 revs theres a funny growling noise coming from the engine area, it seems to happen in second and third gear just as the turbo kicks in, Can't tell if its the turbo or hyd pump doesnt do it when standing still just when under load.
Any Ideas Anyone.................[:)]

What are your engine mounts like? Could the engine/gearbox be twisting under heavy load and touching something like the bodywork?
