I have done cambelt changes on the manual Xantias but now face an automatic Xantia Model 98 with a/c. Lack of experiences forces a question about locking the starter rings. On manual version you just simply line up and stick pins on flywheel, cam gear and fuel pump, but how does one lock the torque coverter on automatics?. H****S manual thinks automatics do not exist so nothing is mentioned on this subject. Could some one offer any advice please.
Thanks

It'll take you half a life time, but you just use the starters ring gear to roll the motor over. The manual is much easier as you just chuck the car in 5th and turn one of the wheels
BTW: Both auto & manual cars will have the identical ring gear in the same spot... After all the starter motor is in the same place (and the same starter on both). The ring gear is just wrapped around a torque converter instead of a flywheel!!
good luck
