Berlingo MPG!!!!

Post by murphman »

Hi there
can anyone tell me what mpg I should be getting from a 1.9D Multi space. I have owned the car from new 7/03, it has 15,000 on the clock. I don't drive it hard at all, 80 max. on the motorway. I have never got better than 41 mpg! More often than not it is under 40 mpg. It has been serviced by Citroen with no reported faults(no suprise there though!). I know that mpg depends on a long list of things but I have never had as low a mpg as this. My old 1986 Polo got close to these figures and it was a petrol!!. I think this is very poor for a diesel engine but maybe I am being harsh. My old Cavalier 1.7td was much better even with 160,000 on the clock.
Apart from this I think the car is fantastic.
Thanks
Paul

Diesel Car got 35.1mpg from a road test of that model so you're in the right ball-park. It's hardly an aerodynamic vehicle, and that engine is less than state-of-the-art. Perhaps consider getting hold of an HDi?
I suppose you can reassure yourself that if it were a petrol you'd be even worse off...

What you're getting is about right. 40 to 42 is what the 1.9D gives us in the 306.
