HELP! Xantia Suspension

Post by shedload »

Well here goes another one! [:(!]
I have just replaced the front spheres on my 1995 Xantia 1800 16v petrol. All went well except the b****y suspension wont rise and there are no brakes!!!! [:0]
I have tried bleeding the syatem by way of the 12mm bolt on the front of the accumalator and have spent 1/2 an hour changing the height adjuster in the car up and down, up and down up and down etc etc. [|)]
Anyone got any ideas, as I would like to be able to use my care again!!!! [:o)]
Thanks in advance [:)]

Hi Mr Load [;)] or may I call you Shed?
How long did you leave the bleed screw open for?
Did you try priming the pump?
Is your LHM and the filters clean?
Does the regulator reach cutout pressure? (click)

Hi, have you tried leaving the suspension on its highest position for a longer lenght of time, had this problem on my M reg xantia a few years ago and this seemed to work.
Also how far did you initially open the bleed screw ?
You should only open it a quarter or half turn max, behind that bleed screw is a little ball bearing and if opened too far it gets blown into the LHM reservoir, check your reservoir to see if it may have become dis-lodged, this happened to me once on a BX.
Worth checking,
Paul

Thanks for the advice.
I did open the bleed bolt quite a long way.
The fluid looks clean enough. Where are the filters?
There seems to be fluid reaching all points?
If I have lost the ball bearing behind the bleed screw, can they be easily replaced and would this be the cause of the car not rising and the breaks not working?

Dear All
Thanks for all the help. I had lost the bearing from behind the bleed screw. I traced it and replaced it and now all is working fine.
Thanks again and god bless the internet!!!!!!!
