Pre-bank holiday Firday traffic.
200 mile Journey to do.
And at 18 miles the plastic clutch clip breaks! I had no option but to drive "clutchless" the 18 miles back to home.
Absolute bloody nightmare-turning it off at lights so I could restart it in 1st. Trying to pull away in fifth at 15 mph uphill...
Now stick over bank holiday whilst I locate spare repalcement.
Car is Xantia 19td which has been great car until this-but clutch getting heavy at 156K. I also have a 306 TD-and reckon I will repalce at the same time (this the exact same type of clip?)
Anyhow wanted you guys to learn from my experience. If your car has done a few miles, and the clutch is heavy, you may want to save some heart ache and change it now!!

Know how you feel, it happened to us couple of years ago; fortunately, we were only 50 yards down the road from home.
My local citroen dealer got a metal clip, not plastic, as a replacement. It only cost a couple of quid. [}:)]B....r of a job to do though so we had the car towed in to a local garage.
Towing charge, repair and cable - total cost about £80.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.[:)]
