Engine Number

Anyone know how you can tell the age of an engine from the engine no.
Mine is a KFX 10FS70 and the number is 2491160.
I know its post 1996 to be a KFX.
Its fitted in a 1998 zx 1.4i but isnt the origional engine so the number isn't related to the vin of the car,
be grateful for any advice.
