Xantia TD glowplugs

Post by William »

Can anyone tell me how to check the glowplugs with a meter on my '94 Xantia 1.9 TD.
I think that one of them is not working properly because it seems to mis-fire and is a bit smokey for a few seconds on a cold morning.
Also can someone tell me why all the electrical looming on my XM appears to be made out of spaghetti and installed by children.[V]

You can check the resistance of each plug. If it's good, resistance should be less than 1 ohm. You can also use an ammeter from the battery to each plug. Each one should draw 12 amps. Without a tester, you'll have to remove each plug in turn and test it across the terminals.
