I have a 1997 Xantia 1.9TD pre face lift.How do I cure an over sensitive alarm.

Use the "ultrasonics off" button (looks like a speaker)?

I aswell have an over sensitive alarm on a Xantia Exclusive. I have used the ultrasonic off button which helps a lot, but the shock sensor is still set off by heavy lorries etc. Does anyone know if there is any adjustments that can be made to the system. It seems a shame to disable all this security esp. if you get your car knicked just for a pesky alarm!!!

The general situation has from personal experience and that of many other forum members proved to be faulty sensors in the doors next to the mirrors. Easily replaced but really they are Citroen dedicated parts. I think they were about £25 for the pair. Only sold in pairs!
I was able to replace my sensors without stripping out the door and just easing the corner back. Buy the new ones before you start. The plugs are colour coded.
All is now fine. The other point to remember is that some insurers expect you to have a functioning system.
