White or Black??

Post by gjb02 »

Wife was complaining the other day that the TD was smoking a bit when she accellerated. So I took it out for a spin and sure enough, pulling past 3000rpm, foot to the floor..black smoke. Ahh, it's overfuelling, I'd tweaked the max fuel setting on the pump so I knew I'd caused the problem. Quick reversal and hey presto, no black smoke......but!!
Now it's less than enthused about starting and smokes a bit until warm, on accelleration anyway, this time the smoke is whiteish grey!
Any answers out there oh Guru's of Le Citroen?[:)]

Unlikely to be the headgasket, no coolant loss at all, no mayo in the oil filler neck, v.good performance and 120 miles a day without problems. And it was only done 20000 miles ago.
The white smoke is the same colour you get if the glow plugs are worn. Like when the engine takes forever to fire up and then, smoke machine-tastic!! That colour smoke, rather than steam. Thanks for the reply anyway...I'm off out to retweak the fuelling and see if that changes anything.[:)]
