fast idle

fast idle

hi have a problem with fast idle revs were staying at 1000 took to local garage vacume switch wasnt working changed. revs went down to 8500 ran fine for 3 weeks now problem back they adjusted settings to bring revs down vac is working but no fast idle plus seems to take a long time for revs to come down like its sticking please help its doing my head in cheers retic666

8500!!! thats some fast idle - what u got under the bonnet? A ferrari F1 ;-)

Guess the idle revs should read 850 [8D]
- it's a common problem that the throttle potientiometer does this. In severe cases it can cause the engine rev's to have a mind of it's own - a rather scaring experience if the car suddenly starts to increase speed by it's own.
