Air Conditioner Compressor Clutch

Post by vinc4299 »

Dear All,
The air-conditioning compressor on my 1996 Citroen Xantia recently began to operate intermittently. I had the system re-gassed this week, but this had no effect. Although the fans cut in correctly which suggest a non-electrical problem, the fault was eventually traced to a lack of voltage being fed to the clutch compressor solenoid. Once a separate feed is supplied, say directly from the battery, the clutch clicks in perfectly. The garage suggested that it might be a faulty relay (i.e. dirty contacts) but given the number of unmarked relays, fuses I have been unable to find it anywhere! Would anyone know if there is such a relay, and its likely location? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't know where to begin looking for that relay!
David.
