hello,
only had a citroen for a few months and i think i have a big problem.
theres fluid dripping onto my passenger foot well from underneath the dash. I'm guessing heater matrix but can any one tell me if i'm on the right lines and if so, how bigger job is it to put right?
I have a 1996 Xantia estate by the way.
ta

Hi,
If it smells / tastes of coolant, then there's your answer! Not an unkown fault on Xantias - if it's not too bad try putting some Forte Radiator Stop Leak in the system - this MAY seal it (I am there at the moment!).
The good news is that the matrix is only £35. The bad news is that you have to take the entire dash and heater out to change it - which is going to set you back 10 hours labour at your local garage, or probably a weekend of your own time.
If it's not coolant, then Xantias can leak if the windscreen scuttle is not properly stuck to the windscreen, or if the sunroof drain tubes are blocked. However, if the leak is just to the left of the centre console, and dripping onto the carpet about half way up the sloping part of the footwell, then it's odds on to be the matrix unfortunately!
