Low Presure Pipe - How to replace

While doing my recent service I noticed a couple of pipes at the back that will need attention soon, the High pressure pipe, which I have cleaned and undersealed to slow down the corrosion. the other pipe is a low pressure return pipe which seems to have started to split.
How do I replace this pipe? Depressurise the system, normal precautions, is there anything else I need to be aware of?

Also, looking at service box the only return piping I can see is part "5270 SE HYDRAULIC OIL BACK HARNESS LONG 264 " which does not look like the right part. I was expecting a short flexiable pipe and two clamps and not the front to rear pipe (264 cm long)!!

Have a look at this link (there are three pictures of the item) which contains the label shown in your picture (9684402480) which is attached to one of the pipes. These all seem to be related to the rear hydraulic block.

Depressurisation is recommended before any work, but you can depressurise the rear axle only if needed.

That split l.p. return pipe looks as if you could just cut off the very end, and refit the remainder.

I agree Chris and would suggest cutting back an extra cm if the pipe allows. These splits have a tendency to act like zips.

Hi Guys, thanks for your replies, I agree possible cut back and re-attach, had not thought of that as no way am I going to replace the front to rear pipe for that, my car will never be displayed as a concourse vehicle :rofl2:
It has HBNR printed on the pipe so I am also thinking of a new flex pipe, of the correct internal & external diameters from a local Hydraulic fitter, its not under pressure so can attach the ends with, at worse a fuel line clip.

Yep, the rusty one is not so easy to fix, the pipe comes from the central sphere and terminates at a joining block (photos) with a piece of flexible hose in the middle.

If I can't buy a new pipe, I am thinking I could replace the whole pipe with a steel pipe, but where the flex is coil the pipe by about 4 turns, similar to the GSA rear pipes,

Well, that went well, apprehensive about having seized pipe unions, but a little WD40 and a cup of tea undone very easily.
However, what did do wrong? - Used Diagbox to depressurise the system, great, removed the pipe with virtually no spillage............but when I went to reconnect the battery about 1/4" litre of LDS fuild on my drive...........why....I know the system was not over full............. #-o
is there a difference in fluid level between when depressurising via diagbox than when just using the low setting?

Plus - Yes EuroCarCare are on my suppliers list, nice people to deal with.

Yes there is a difference Stu as a complete depressurisation via Diagbox will do just that, whereas on low suspension setting it does not depressurise the circuit.
