Hey guys!
So i've decided to change the brakes on my xantia mk1 (1995)
I'm used with rusted on brakepads and calipers on my other cars (floating calipers) but this is by far the hardest thing to get out (yet) any tips on how to get the pin out? Or is there a way to just lift off the whole caliper and replace the brakes without touching this nightmare? I have removed the clips from them.
I have used penetrating oil (and wd40) shock oil (freezing the rust to -40°c) i also tried to tap it out with no success (from both sides)

These can be tight, but usually will drift out if you use a piece of rod of the same diameter (or minutely less) as the pin, and a heavy hammer. Check that the brakes are off, and that the hinge bolt/at the other end of the swing plate is also free.
You could also try putting a bit of pressure on the swing plate, to ease the load on the pin, and see if that helps.

I wonder if a regular application (daily for a week) of Plus Gas might help. It does help loosen things up a bit.

As White Exec said use a piece of rod or cut a phillips screwdriver with same less diameter and use the hammer. I removed those pins many times and was quite easily.

Afterthought - If you can get to the 'head' on the pin, try giving it some rotation in each direction, before drifting it out.
