Mines 49 mpg so far in a 1994 ZX Aura TD with 63k on it.
If you still think you are immortal i.e. below 28 yrs of age knock about 10 mpg off what you should be getting!!

I'm under 28 and average 43 Mpg in a Xantia mostly on the dual carriageway. Limiting my top speed to 60mph got my average up to 48.

Our 1993 ZX TD 5dr never drops under 40mpg, 43mpg most local use and perhaps 47mpg on a brisk long run.
I thought only heavily caned Xantias would go well under 40mpg!

I know I don't understand how the hell I get it so low. This was with a bottle of Wynns injector cleaner in it too. For the first 200 miles or so it was a run to Birmingham and back, averageing >70 but <85. The rest was mixed driving around Peterborough so mainly parkways with some in town stuff. My driving style is I'd say reasonably push on ie I always seem to be leaving 'slow' traffic behind but I rarely put the pedal to the metal so to speak and rarely travel above 80mph. Maybe 20 or so miles out of the tankful were spent driving properly hard with full revs through the gears.

Anything over 3500RPM in 5th and your fuel consumption is likely to be in the late 20's. I know.
[:p]
I do from my house to Birmingham and back 3 days a week thats 208 miles a day on 1/2 a tank per time..When I set off again the next day £15 is enough to get it there and back again!! I think thats pretty impressive really. Thats keeping up with M-way speeds as well, not poodling along at 55mph in an economy run or 3 figures in the other extreme. Sort of 75ish to the odd 90 I suppose.
PS I am 36.

Aparently you should get 47.5 mpg in a zx 1.9td depending on conditions and loading .
on a side note my 1.4i zx gets about 40 - 42 mpg and i live in a pretty hilly area am under 28 and um dont hang about so maybe speed doesnt mess up zx mpg that badly

I found that my C5 HDI 110 can have a greater variance of economy than my previous Xsara 1.4.

Compared to both of my BX TDs My TD Volcane drinks like a fish, sub 40 (though I am 40 plus) if that makes any difference?

Recently worked out 52MPG in my 146K ZX TD on an L reg. Thats in to Birmingham and back to Worcetsr every day with out speeding. Not using the motor way. Oil consumption is a bit high since service though.

As a slight aside, my Xantia TD has just done 47mpg on a tank full; driving with the traffic thorugh the rush hour, but trying not to go over 2500rpm before 5th gear admitedly!
My last Xantia TD wouldn't get over 38mpg (although it was quikcer), so I think some cars are just better than others..
