Bleurgh. Finally got autodoc to agree to send me a new oil cooler. Took a week of emails! (I can’t use the phone which would’ve been quicker).

We’ll see what the new one looks like.

Did you manage to get all the oil out of the coolant? I'm about 5 flushes in and still getting filmy oil. Did make an oopsie and overfill and think some oil blocked the overflow so blew oil out of the rad cap. Thankfully needed a new cap anyway but made a hell of a mess (think a wide pool that looks worse than it is but has just spread!)

Finally got the new oil cooler, then the weather turned horrible. Replaced it yesterday. There’s no little fitting tab which is slightly worrying, but it tightened up well enough.

Stu, I still have some oil in the water. My plan is to keep overfilling it as the oil floats away. Messy, but it seems to be working. Once it’s cleaner I’ll replace the antifreeze as I don’t want to overheat the engine as we head towards summer.

Annoyingly the water temperature gauge has decided to be temperamental. I wasn’t anywhere near the electrics.

Oil floating on the surface (at the header tank) can be fished out by dipping some kitchen roll into it. Oil will cling to the paper, largely leaving the coolant behind. Keep on repeating until you can get no more out.

Once the oil has stopped appearing, use the LiquiMoly cleaner to finish the job off. Should leave the system really clean, assuming there's not still a leak.

I've got a feeling it's HGF given i've got a LOT of oil still getting into the coolant and it seems to be getting warm awful quick. Bad times.

Oh dear. A job to be done, then.
I'm sure someone here will have been there before, and can offer some tips.

That’s bad news Stu. Don’t envy you doing that work.

My expansion tank is still a little oily but it get better every time I check/ clean it.
