A Brand New DW8 DPC Injection Pump Questions.

Post by 1080 »

Just bought a DCPDWLP12 R844B410B Delphi Lucas injection pump. Brand new for cheap. It's the one with the ECU that controls the advance DW8B engine?
Waiting for delivery.
As my Citroen knowledge ended on 16/8/2001 when I closed my garage, I have no experience of this pump. I'm thinking of rebuilding my 1994 DPC Xantia N/A pump using bits from this. Or I may just resell.
Please can someone inform me if this new pump has the advance controlled just by the solenoid, or is it part mechanical advance and part ECU controlled. Thank you.
I'm wondering if I could use this pump as is and make a rpm controlled switch for the advance solenoid. I have the skills/time to do this, so not too pie in sky : -)

I think you need the vehicle electronics for it to function, not certain but I'm sure someone who knows will be along shortly.

Thanks Peter. Looking at the price for used ones - and £1800 retail from dealers - I might be better off reselling. It'd be good to know how it actually works, though.
Really happy with my Xantia. Had it nine months and no faults so far. In fact, I could have gotten away without lifting the bonnet as it doesn't use any oil : -)

However, I've just been offered a mint BMW E36 Tourer. The alloys are worth what he's asking.
Took it for MOT and tester said it couldn't be any better.
I'm just after how the pump advances. I know about the coded stop solenoid.
I'll post a pic when the pump arrives.

Well, after all that reading and working out what I needed to do...
Pump arrived, damaged in transit. The parcel firm had dropped it. Waiting for the seller to respond.

I too would be interested to know how integrated its electronics.

I have the earlier DW8 without electronic advance, and have and XUD9 Bosch pump on it. I've often wondered if I can do the same to the DW8B.

DW8B minus MAF sensor, minus ECU, minus electronic pump, plus non-electronic pump = DW8?

Hi I have a Peugeot expert 2003 and struggling to fit my Bosch pump , have you got any pictures of your conversion or do you think the pump brackets will vary between dw8 engine variants ? I've put a post on the Peugeot page but basically my fuel pump pulley needs to come across by about 5mm to line up with cam pulley ..as the cambelt is hanging off by 4/5mm..it's frustrating to say the least

I can take pictures for you. I didn't do the conversion myself, but I can take pictures of the result if that helps.

Anything in particular you'd like to see?
