Electrical problem
Om Tuesday my screenwash pump was fine, yesterday we had a severe frost and the washer didnt work. Obviously frozen , today its mot as cold but pump wont work. Took pump off and tested against a battery, works fine. Yest lamp to the plug and tried the switch, no live. The earth is ok, and the wipets still work when you operate the wash. It can only be a fuse surely? but the fuse according to the manual is intact. I have tested each fuse with a test lamp earth to live but all intact. Thete ate a few that don't light at all on either side though.HELLLLLPPPP please.

Re: Electrical problem
Has it blown the fuse when it was frozen?
Re: Electrical problem
This is what I'm thinking but the fuses are intact , haven't tested the fises on the side of the box yet.

Re: Electrical problem
Some of the fuses may not be live all the time, so you need to test them with a multimeter (use it on the continuity setting).
Fuse F3 (10Amp) in the engine fuse box: Here's the location - this one is for the Front / Rear wash pump.

Re: Electrical problem
That one had blown and I replaced it but still no power. Not sure how to use multi meter. Know how to test voltage but that's all what does the cont settings look like

Re: Electrical problem
Use the resistance range, denoted by the "Ω" symbol.
There may be a continuity setting at the bottom of the range that will sound a bleep when there is continuity.
Don't measure a live circuit using this range, extract the fuse to be measured.

Re: Electrical problem
Thanks Steve will look in the morning. I can't understand this., using a live to earth test lamp with the clip on an earth and the probe to the live, when I tested fuse 3 initially, only one side lit up, I replaced it and then both sides were live, but still no live at the plug. The pump works fine when connected to a battery.

As Steve says, or it may have a continuity setting with this symbol:

Re: Electrical problem
That's what the test lamp does. I replaced the fuse anyway but still no live feed.

Re: Electrical problem
Some are encapsulated nowadays which makes that difficult. It also means you can't measure voltages on the fuses as the ends of the pins are enclosed. A damn nuisance.

Re: Electrical problem
Someone else told me it could be the switch and to run a wire to the pump from the back of the switch. Would anyone else agree? I sa it’s not as the normal operation is, squirt water and wipe 3 times, but now there is no water just the 3 wipes.

Re: Electrical problem
Don't listen to this person.
You wont get a feed from the back of the 'switch', when the switch is operated a pulsed signal comes out the switch to the BSI, the BSI then translates it & sends it to the Under bonnet fusebox which then operates the relay to power the pump.
If you are 100% the fuse is ok you will need diagbox/Lexia to test the operation of the switch (known as the Com200) & do further tests.
Re: Electrical problem
I will test the continuity in the morning, and if no joy ,will take it to my local auto electrician, who has helped me out numerous times.

Re: Electrical problem
Went to see Mark the spark , he put his tester on and got power straight away, he said the connector on the plug had opened out when I put my test probe in which was the reason for mo power, but the other lead was live not the one I was testing duhhh.
All working again now though, thanks for the replies.
