look at the parts diagram, are they just screwed into the chassis rail and have an end plate with a bolt sticking out, or a hole for a bolt to screw into it??

They may just fit into a cup.....

Appear to be bolted on, presumably from the bottom?

I did the bump stops on our Phase II Xsara Estate and they simply pushed in. If it's any help at all I had to look around a lot of cars in the scrap yards and that included Picassos which ISTR also just pushed in.

Actually, looking at it again, the bolt is shown only going through the cup (if it went through the stop I would expect it to be drawn below it) - and the parts diagram says it's only 16mm long, so I think it's a fair bet they're just pushed in.

The large end with the larger hole simply pushes on to a spigot. The spigot has a mushroom shaped head (IIRC!) to hold the bump stop.

Just a mushroomed head on spigot in center of cup holding bumpstop
Powerflex make them in polyurethane along with big bush on bottom engine mount for some inc diesels

Mine look just like in the photo above, there’s no hole in the thick end just an indentation.

Have you tried pushing it on? A bit of spit will help. Or soapy water if you're spitless.

Well, whilst replacing the brake compensator spring yesterday, one of the bumpstops fell off. Mine have a cup that holds the bumpstop in, this is then bolted into the chassis using an 8mm bolt. Both the cups are corroded beyond repair and I had to get a torch on the bolts to get them out. So now I’ve got no way of fitting the bumpstops unless I make up new cups !
I noticed on Fleabay that some bumpstops are just screw in types, so that may be an option ?

They would have to be of similar composition and construction. And cheap enough to throw away if it doesn't work!
