Citroen Synergie Immobiliser fault Jan 2019

Post by SynegieSurrey »

Hi
I have a 2.0lt petrol year 2000 Synergie, it turns over on the key but security LED on the dash is constantly on and `dim` it used to be bright and flashing also the central locking stopped working at the same time. suddenly with no warning.
Behind the drivers side dash there is a TEXTON 96386665.80 alarm module, when disconnected the `dim` LED on the dash goes out, I replaced this module with a spare I had but the LED remains dim and the engine spins but no starting.
This vehicle does not have the keypad on the dash, my OBD II analyser does not read the ECU and did`nt before the fault.
Has anybody experienced this fault? Also how many modules are on this vehicle, there is a engine ecu under the bonnet right side and a fuel relay, the alarm module behind the dash, is there a third module/ecu that I need to be investigating?
There is a popular auction website advertising a `blank` ecu claiming it will start any vehicle but they dont know where it is fitted.
Thanks in adavance, Nick

The car will never start with a CPH module from another car as its is a matched set with the injection ECU & transponder chip. Unless you also swap these parts from the same car.
If the OBD reader wont talk to the ECU then this suggests the ECU is not powered up. A starting point would be to check ALL the fuses on the car, check the inertia switch has not tripped & also remove & clean any earth connections you can see, especially the main thick ones between the gearbox & chassis.
Failing that you will need a wiring diagram to check the power supplies & earths to the injection ECU.

You can always try resynchronising the remote (required when changing the batteries):
  • Switch on the ignition
  • Wait for the anti-theft warning lamp to go out
  • Press one of the buttons on the remote control , Within 30 seconds

Ok. I have checked and tested all fuses and they are fine, I have tried the resynchronising method but no difference.
I will say that have noticed the Fuel Pump relay under the bonnet is going into `spasm` buzzing, changing it made no difference and the security LED on the dash near the windscreen is still dim and does not flash as it should. The engine turns over fine.
I have been told there are different OBD II testers eg EDC15-EDC17 Read Write MPPS V16 ECU etc, what is the correct one?
Thanks

EDC15 & 16 are different types of diesel injection systems, not OBD readers.
MPPS I believe is a remapping tool, not an OBD reader.

If you want to know what injection system you have, post your VIN HERE, not in a PM as I mentioned.

VIN VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Does anyone know what type of OBD reader will work with Synergie?

Realistically only a Diagbox (which includes Lexia and PP2000) system.

Yes, you'll need Lexia for the year which is encapsulated within Diagbox, but it will need a laptop to run as well as the VCI.

So this is the XU10J2 petrol engine with Magneti Marelli Injection system on a Feb 2000 year model.

Here are the components of the Immobiliser System (click the images to zoom and clarify).

It looks to me that the fault is pointing at the TEXTON immobiliser unit behind the dash, can this unit be repaired, replaced, reprogrammed, bypassed etc, is this possible yourself or a main dealer job only? cheers

If Marc is kind enough to post the schematic of the immobiliser, you could check the voltages around the CPH. I have a feeling that you may have a corroded connector or wire in the harness which is dropping the voltage somewhere.

There's nothing on the Synergie Mike that I have unfortunately and even the Peugeot 806 equivalent only has a poorly photocopied diagram that doesn't really show much.

It's a different part Gibbo - won't work as it will have a CPH, not a BSI and will be a different electronic architecture on the C5 to a Synergie.
