BX 16valve calipers

Post by ohms69 »

Are these identical to the TZD calipers? Or are they more hassle than they're worth?
I've tracked down a guy about 15 miles from me breaking one.[:)]

does the TZD that you have got vented discs? If so then they are the same! Cit only did two caliper options on the BX either Bendix Normal or Bendix Vented, and none in between!

Mine aren't vented no. [:(]
So what is the difference between the calipers? I'm assuming it's just that the yokes are bigger on the vented set up?

exactly. the only difference is that the pad carrier is slightly bigger to accomodate for the extra width of the vented disc. You coul just unbolt the normal yoke (its the weird 5 sided nut) and bolt new ones in, or swap the whole units if you can find known good ones!
You MAY have problems with standard rims and might have to get the 16v alloys to go with. I have put standard 165 rims on a 16v and there wasnt any obvious problems, but at the same time the car didnt run!
