My parking assistance ECU is totally dead, so I purchased a new (old) one.
According to what I heard somewhere I need to reprogram the replacement ECU to talk with my car.
Is this right? I do have Diagbox, but need some instructions, Thanks!
The car is Citroen C5 2009 exclusive sedan Hdi136.

Hi
It depends entirerly on whether you have bought the EXACT same ECU model. If you post your VIN here I can confirm the correct one you need.
There are different ECUs and which one will depend on the parking assistance options fitted to your car. The unit does not need coding to the car, but if you have the wrong one it will not work properly as the BSI configuration will not match the ECU / or the function.

Thank you!
I’ll try to find the VIN tomorrow.
It’s in the tag at the windscreen, right?

Yes.
When you post up your VIN the forum system will obscure it (for security reasons). The forum moderators can still read the VIN, and advise you.

Yes lower bottom left of the windscreen. Don't sent it as a private message, otherwise I won't be able to read it - post it here in this thread and it will be fine.

Re: C5 X7 parking ECU programming
Ok, so you have front and rear parking assistance with the parking space gap measurement system.
So the ECU part number you should have will be: 6590CZ
However, did you ever get the car diagnosed with Diagbox before replacing the unit in order to determine the cause of the problem? Replacing the ECU won't necessarily solve the issue if the fault lies elsewhere.

Re: C5 X7 parking ECU programming
I actually have not installed the new ECU, I just bought it from eBay.
The diagbox diagnosis was more or less like ”no connection to parking assistance ecu”.
When I opened the ECU, it was full of sand and all the circuit board looked to be in really poor condition. Tried to blow it with compressed air, but with no help.
All the numbers in old and new ecu seem to match, so I guess it should work ok.
But no reprogrammig is needed, right?

Yes, if it is identical, you should be fine with swapping it over.
