You only need a half decent laptop, and the Lexia kit. The Lexia full chip kit is available at present with 16% off, so 1% cheaper than the Forum discount code for the present sale period., so £99.12. You can pick up a laptop on the Bay - one here would be ideal - similar model to what I use:

That has a 320Gb drive Win 7 installed and 1 year warranty - so together that's £200.... quite a saving. The software (Diagbox) will work with Peugeot, Citroen and DS vehicles and is an investment if you are going to have any of these vehicles in future.

There are other suppliers available of course, but I have a Lenovo laptop and my Lexia kit is a full chip one from Easydiagnostics.

Okay. So if that full chip set is as good as the 'Pro' on the link I sent, I will get that one with a comparable Lenovo from some Co. that ships here. The Diagbox & other software supplied will hopefully install, run, and be good for the job in question.

Will keep you posted.

The 'Full Chip Revision C' only applies to the Lexia Hardware, not the Laptop - that 'Pro' version is just a name / package a seller is putting together. The laptop / Brick they are selling is entirely unrelated to the Lexia VCI hardware just for information.

The laptop they illustrate is just covered in a rubberised protective shell from the looks of it, but not necessary unless you are a full time mechanic and will be using it around a workshop for added protection.

Be aware that all the Lexia VCI hardware on the market to the public are clones - there is no official support as they are not officially supported! The software is also 'modified' to allow us mere mortals to use it on our own vehicles without having to pay extortionate diagnostic fees to the main dealer just to access basic troubleshooting.

I'm temporary locking this topic whilst I split it off into a new topic more suited to the electrical issues as this is ebbing away from the Cam Belt thread... Once I've put the maxi fuse box guide up (long) it will be unlocked, along with the new link.

Update New topic related to the electrical issues post-cambelt change is here:
