C5 X7 mot

Post by jgra1 »

hi all, got a potentially nasty mot tomorrow and will have questions following it..

for now, all 4 TPMS's are giving me grief.. reporting deflation or punctures despite the tyres being at the correct pressure..

I tried to disable them in the Diag and it then said use the accessories menu ? .. what is this? (I have never noticed TPMS in the little menu on the dash - just some not very interesting things in there really)

many thanks for any pointers

John

John

There is nothing to configure in the menu for this.

The system just displays the message and the tyre that is defective (either under-inflated or Punctured). If you are having issues with all of the sensors, they have become unpaired, either as a result of swapping the wheels - or as a result of you trying to deactivate the system.

Citroen can do this quite quickly, but they need to pair all 4 together in the same session. It only took a few minutes at my dealer.
  • Run a Global Diagnostic first, then go back to the main screen and access the REPAIR menu.
  • Look down the list for the 'under inflation detection', select and set this to 'absent'.
  • Then follow any instructions and close the menu and system down and come out of it.
  • You may need to take it for a drive for a mile or so, but that should take the light off.
Just bear in mind that if you need to re-enable it or if this doesn't work, it might be quicker to get the local Peugeot or Citroen Dealer to plug in and re-pair them for you just as quickly.

I turned the system off on an X7 - you need to do into delivery to customer option in DiagBox, then somewhere in there is the options, and you can set tyre pressure monitoring to off. Not required on a 2010 car, so it won't fail the test if off - although it will if it is obviously faulty!!

thanks both.. Marc i haven't touched the system or tyres recently, certainly not since last Autumn, and all wheels I am sure went back where they were, i suspect all the valves are somehow just throwing up errors because of mileage? I never touched it honest ;) I always have 2 punctures and 2 deflates, starting randomly about a month ago..

I tried tonight in Diag, and got to somewhere that said TPMS absent or present?.. (Richard I don't think it was in delivery, I didnt get that far..)
- when i said 'absent' please, it then said no, go to accessories menu ;) ! I have about 30 mins tomorrow, will ram all the air I can into the tyres first, and then make a journey to 'customer options'..

Right now, TPMS seems the least of my worries, and annoyingly I have two cheapo tyres to go on first which would have been a good time to sort those valves out..

Emissions, handbrake and steering rack are the main concerns and wont go away despite the test.. but the car is only worth so much and I cant justify a lot of cash for those parts.. will throw it into the testing bay and stand back :)

Not yet Marc. Been on the list for a while. Slight leak that will get worse.meanwhile the dpf is full and I think additive is low.and the handbrake had a re calibration and cable tension tonight but my Newton's haven't improved (650 and 1100 on a full application) ..it always suffers the handbrake test and I see no difference tomorrow..

Grr :) if I go ahead and test it I will report back with the results.

Clean pass !

:) And a cricket victory..

I asked about dpf cleaning and he said make sure you have reciept .. so rack and dpf/Eolys are now priority .plus tracking and sorting a misfire / gearbox issue .

With all tyres inflated the tpms behaved and I didn't disable it ..yet.

Has two new rottalas fitted early today.. seem fine at £75 each ..will hunt for wet weather when I can as I expect understeer central

Phew !

Excellent news John - and the stricter MOT too!

One thing you need to watch with the OEM TPMS - I have found they are EXTREMELY reliable and have not been wrong to date with me. I am getting a persistent tyre leak on my front right - and I suspect it's because I need new valve kits on then as they have never been changed in 70k miles! So for about a £5 each corner, I would certainly recommend getting these done. It now regularly warns me on the same tyre and when I connect up my digital tyre inflater, sure enough it has gone from 2.4 BAR to 1.8 BAR! So without the system notifying me I would not necessarily notice this and could be potentially dangerous. The tyres are new and there are no punctures, plus it was doing it on the previous tyre too so that confirms it.

So personally, I would definitely recommend they be enabled and to trust what they say!
