C5 Engine oil 2.0hdi 54 plate?

Post by danny_c5 »

Morning all

Quick question if anyone can point me in the right direction for the correct engine oil for my 54 plate 2.0hdi?

Would this be ok? says on the tin recommended for Citroen and Peugeot.

Have a look on the Wiki:
https://frenchcarforum.co.uk/wiki/index ... arbox_Oils
You have the DW10BTED4 (With Particle Filter) engine - so 5W40, 10W40 or 5W30 is fine - but you need to use the one for the appropriate climate - so if you have your handbook, it should tell you the PSA specification for your engine, which you can use in the link to find the most appropriate one, but 5W30 is fine.

You don't need one as expensive as that - the C2 Low saps oil is for DPF equipped cars. A cheaper 10W40 semi synthetic will be fine for an 'old school' non-DPF HDi.

Are we sure it's a Mk2 car Marc? Do you have some extra information? A 54 plate could surely be a Mk1 car.

No a MK II - I have Danny's VIN from a previous enquiry, so confirmed. I'll usually ask for a VIN if I don't already have it - it saves asking the same people over and over each time they want info.

Cheers for all the replies folks!

Paul definitely a mark 2, if I mentioned starter motor and your magic hands, I am confident you would remember :)

while on the subject of oil, would changing the transmission oil make any improvements or worth while?
