Great choice with the SD1 scott, I would love one of these, but the thirst issue and dreaded tin worm have been a major put off.
I currently own 3 cars...
1 TD BX estate with leaking struts and a failed MOT(open to offers)
1 TD BX estate with full MOT and volcan alloys.
1 Renault 5 GT Turbo which is not the usual boy racer rubbish and has only covered a genuine 11000 miles from new. This is my summer weekend toy and is as it left the factory... I'll be doing some concours events this year.(put some mileage under the wheels)[8D]

1) Citroen 2.1TD XM, the sort of gift you can't refuse (Dad gave it to me). Owned for 7 weeks so far, bad car, (great car!) nothing but trouble to date. Starter problem (fixed), alarm keeps going off (fixed), central locking door failed (fixed), not charging (not yet fixed), was OK but now running very rough (not yet fixed, WIP), slow as a snail. I can't wait to get it all sorted, it should be a great car.
2) Peugeot 1.8 TD Estate. Good car, (bad car!). Medium trouble. Owned for four years, rear axle failed X 2 (fixed x 2), heater matrix broken (not yet fixed since last year), massive engine overheat, minor explosion of water distributing bits and an expensive tow (my wife put carbonated water in it because there was a 2litre bottle of it handy..!!), so not her fault. (The cars fault that is!). Head gasket gone (not yet fixed since last year). Keep meaning to fix the head, but hey, it still is fine on long runs at 80mph with a full radiator. Just remember to fill up the rad before coming back. Never let me down. Why did I say that?
3) Porsche 924. Very good car, no trouble. Owned for 16 years. One head job, damn site easier than the Citroen or Pug to do. Needed a bulb for the rear number plate light this year for the MOT. Fuel pump relay broken. Well, I've mended it, I just haven't plugged it back in. Could do with a new battery. Incredibly reliable. Started it today, after a three month lay off, will take it for a run about tommorrow. Broke the timing belt once a few years (11) ago. Hey, the valves miss the pistons.. this cost me £7.50 plus a £20 taxi tow off the M11. I reckon I've spent about £100 a year on average on her so far.
4) Yamaha XS850 motocycle: 1981, owned it since new. Ride it every summer. Still quick, 90mph in second. All my cars are more economical to run, but hey. Come on Spring. [:D]
cheers

93/K Ford Sierra 2.0i LX (DOHC, Automatic) Currently nonfunctional due to bad crank angle sensor. When I get some time it'll get replaced, and the car sold on...
95/M Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0i 16v GLS ( Automatic ). Has the classic idle bypass valve problem, but generally runs OK - I keep having to use this one whenever the Xantia pulls a sickie! I don't mind too much - the thing goes like a scalded cat.
96/P Ford Escort 1.6i 16v LX. It's been gathering dust in the garage for the past 2 years. Occasionally started up and driven up and down the (150ft) driveway. There is a very good reason for this, even though there's nothing mechanically wrong with the car. A waste.
Other vehicles available are:
01/51 Hyundai Elantra 1.6 GSi (Very uncomfortable, and donkey slow to boot!)
00/X Peugeot 306 1.6 LX Automatic
98/S Volkswagen Passat 1.8T Automatic
That's the lot, excluding the company pool cars, of course!
Stu.

I don't (personally) have any Citroen's at the moment, but I'm after another C5. My fiance has a C3 1.4 HDi 16v Exclusive though.
I've currently got a Ford Focus 1.8 16v Ghia. I have yet to discover the reason for motoring journo's rating these so much. Whilst they do handle very well and love to be thrown around, they are also somewhat uncomfortable - I've owned it since 12/12/03 and I'm still playing with seat everytime I go out in it - and it only does a rather poor 28.65MPG. The interior quality isn't bad, and its been very reliable, but the panelwork is very light and dents far too easily.
My other vehicle is a Nissan Terrano Van. This is 2nd one I've had, the first was rejected as the rear spare wheel kept working loose from the back door despite 3 attempts to weld it properly. This one is an ex-demo and seems ok. However its awful on fuel, and whoever decided that a van should have beige carpets and mostly beige upholstery wants draging into the car park and shooting becuase mine needs valeting every other day to keep it clean and I've blagged proper fitted mats from Nissan too. There's not a great deal of space in the back either. But I don't pay any company car tax on it, and its fully insured and fuelled for me so I can't really complain.

I don't own a Citroen but I do have two French cars.
1994M Renault 21 Savanna. Goes like you'd expect a 65bhp diesel seven seater to go. It's actually quite acceptable, very comfortable and pleasant to ride in. 45mpg from a car that size is very impressive. The previous owner said "It uses a bit of water, I top it up every 5oo miles because the water goes down to the minimum" I didn't suggest to him that maybe it LIKES being at the minimum but it seems to be the case. Got it in November to replace.....
1995N Escort TD Estate. Good enough car but you're never done fixing them. Rusts spectacularly, having trouble selling it because of rust. Only just stopped the thing leaking (took a whole tin of Isopon P40) after 3 years. Somebody came to look at it yesterday and pointed out the mould on the carpet. It wasn't mould, it was where I'd scorched it trying to dry the carpets a bit with a heat gun. It does 40-45mpg, it was an unexpected bonus when the Savanna turned out to be better on fuel. Since I stopped the oil leaks it uses no oil. Even after being cooked twice due to broken heater pipe (heater hose is split and joined with a plastic pipe that runs just above the turbo. The hose burst because it was resting on the turbo then the pipe disintegrated) it has had no cooling system problems. After having a couple of Peugeots the concept of just CHECKING the water level was a new and welcome one.
1993L Renault 19 Saloon. Wife's car, got it to replace a Mazda 626 and it was the best car change we have ever made. The Renault is roomier, more reliable, faster (even with the 65bhp diesel compared to the Mazda's 12 valve 2 litre), used considerably less than half the fuel, more comfortable (even in Prima "no toys" spec) and the brakes are a huge improvement (i.e. the Renault has some). It goes round corners too, and stops going round them when you're finished. There's a dealer here who buys up all the trade ins from the local shiney garages and sells them very quickly for a small profit. The 19 was the first likely candidate to turn up there. We paid £325 plus the worthless Mazda for it, another dealer had had it at £995 and even sold it (there was a tippexed name on the V5). Scary, it had a couple of very dangerous faults that are just not acceptable on a £1000 car (Missing wishbone bush and the worst rear suspension I have ever seen) but I was aware of them and prepared to deal with them at the price I paid. It cost me £50 and an afternoon to replace the entire rear axle, with the added bonus of new brakes.
I'm happy with the Renaults so far, they aren't too bad to work on and you're not watching them rust before your eyes.

Another list - we're a sad lot!!! THis one from Western Australia.
1996 Xantia 2.0 Si - 36,000 km - as new condition. Always goes. No trouble.
1995 Peugeot 306 XT - 115,000 km - Owned from new. Always goes. No trouble since last heater matrix in about 1998.
1976 Renault 16TS - 215,000 km - lovely original condition. Very reliable. New Nankang tyres are just excellent, and steering much lighter.
1964 Renault R8 - owned since 1973. About 300,000 km and never failed to get home under her own power. Practically no rust. Delightful to drive.
1951 Renault 750 - owned since 1966! Tired but complete, more or less original and roadworthy.
I drive lots of other things for work reasons. Toyota Land Cruisers for example.

Sad indeed...
Currently i own / run:
1993 1.9 Citroen ZX D Avantage, everything works, its done 126K and its been reliable apart from an air leak on the fuel system which caused hot starting problems. It was owned by a judge before me who had it from new and had it citroen dealer serviced every 6000 miles.
1997 1.8 RT Sport Renault Laguna. 56K. Im its 3rd owner, i bought it to tow with and its a big sack of DAZ (slang for excrement). it had a Renault service history and so far the following has happened:
Heater matrix burst filling car with steam and hot water.
Alternator is on way out (bearings).
Cam belt failed at 46K (luckily on stary up so not much damage)
Leaks like a sieve (rear door seals)
Petrol tank fell out on visit to filling station when tank strap had rusted through
Its lardy and un fast.
BUT, the wife loves it! sad and tapped.
1986 Austin MAestro 1.3 City X (in beige). 77K, this is my classic. I love the shape, space and ease of repairs (which lets face it is a good thing becauce bits frequently drop off) i intend to try and run it in the Austin centenary celebrations next year, before putting a match in the petrol tank and running very fast.
1984 Honda CB250 <s>wet</s> super dream. (not running at moment - knackered carb).
