Unless you really need to do this I would leave them. They are very prone to breaking up and snapping if seized and a torque of 1,7 daNm will snap them if they are seized.
They do very little on the HDi to be honest and are best left unless essential given the hassle of replacing them and the copper seals etc

The air inlet manifold has to be removed first.

Thanks for the reply most helpfull. So can I confirm they are at the front of the engine under the air Intake manifold. Think they might need replacing as was hard to start in the winters cold weather. If prone to snapping I might leave the job to a garage and let them deal with it.

For the 2.2 175, yes from the looks of it and also, on refitting, the plugs need to be tightened to 0,85 ± 0,1 daN.m.

Yep, I would suggest that as anything goes wrong they will have the tools to do it and the responsibility too!

Hi, may I bug you for your experience again. Have had the car scanned and p1351 error code comes up with message, preheating relay circuit Relay supplied and plugs never supplied. Could this be the relay or plugs? Don't want to change plugs if not needed.

It's extremely common - I have it on my C5 X7 and previously before that on my other one and on the C3 too - all HDi cars.

I completely ignore it.

Glow plugs on HDi engines are rarely used except to help get the engine to temp more quickly and on occasions where needed, to assist with particle filter regeneration (if fitted).
