I wonder if this was related to a fuse box issue? Can't tell from the plate as it is in Europe somewhere I suspect.

I know - that bloke's a bit brave and probably has a death wish.
I saw this one on a MKII (facelift) model, and the clue was in the chap saying that his turbo had been 'serviced' 2 months earlier, and that the turbo had probably broken up and the oil had ignited from the exhaust...

Statistically, I think that engine fires are mostly caused by oil or fuel leaking onto an exhaust manifold.
