ZX Lights on Buzzer

Post by VLL »

The buzzer has stopped working, and i'm bad for leaving the lights on.
I've had a look round the scrap yard but the only ZX they had didnt have one.
The buzzer on mine is a 'Bitron AVV/ACP3'
Does anyone here know where i can get one apart from the mail dealer who says its gonna be a couple of weeks before he can get his hands on one and doesnt know how much it will cost.
Would hate to order then get hit for £30 or something for such a little thing.
Thanks

Some main dealer. Got all the technology and can't tell you the price? Try Halfords this part may fit several other European vehicles like Peugeot.

Are your interior lights still working properly? The buzzer is triggered to come on when the courtesy lights come on so if that switch fails so does the buzzer.

You've just answered my next question....i've tested the pin switches on the doors and they seem ok but the interior lights dont work. Maybe if the buzzer fails the lights also dont work, or as you say the lights have failed causing the buzzer to stop working.
Anyone else had anything similar?

Dont think it's the buzzer that's the problem here. Unscrew the door pin switch - clean/rub the earth connections and switch contact points.
Quite common that both door's pin switches fails. Lube the switch's screw/earth point with some cu-paste.

Will give that a try in the morning, if its not snowing.
The interior lights do work when you manually switch them on so i guess the most likely thing is the pin switches, but it is strange how both should fail at the same time, thats why i thought maybe the earth runs through the buzzer then onto the switches, will also check the connections at the back of the buzzer socket just to rule that one out.
If that fails i guess its out with the Haynes Manual (which only covers upto 93 i think and is not always 100% with 95 models i've found).

It's opposite : the buzzer ground is relying on the door switches grounding properly.
As said : it's in fact common that both doors switches fails [8)]
- but you don't notice on passenger door - untill you test it [;)]
