The code you supplied him is for Hydractive 3 + , 5271.H8

http://www.lizarte.com/en/SUSPENSION-SP ... -0100.aspx

This is for cars with a 3 sphere configuaration , and the center sphere must also be changed for giving the soft ride.

For a 2 sphere configuration, the correct code is 5271.G4

Not according to the VIN for his car! He does not have hydractive 3+. That’s another reason why we ask for the VIN, it saves countless posts that are unnecessary.

I am fully aware of the differences between the 2 systems Aneesh.

Other manufacturers can put what they like down, they are NOT the official parts from Citroen. Further, Citroen may use certain spheres for different models as needed, but that part number is correct and does not mean it is only for H3+ cars. This is the problem going off other manufacturers catalogues and why they should not be taken as correct in all cases.

@ Spiff: don't forget to order the seal (5272 15) if it is not already supplied. As you can see, part number is as I have specified direct from Citroen Service from your VIN.

I didnt see the OP supplying the VIN number here in this thread, hence the confusion!

I agree with you in theory. If you are buying from Citroen dealer, then you must use the original part number. But if you are buying from remanufacturer, in this case the OP specifically mentioned Lizarte, it would not be prudent, to ignore their own catalogue. Because their part numbers clearly tell their sphere numbers depending on whether the car is hydractive+ or not and the engine/model numbers. In that case the catalogue of the remanufacturer should be the only thing to consider, or you end up with the wrong sphere (although because of incorrect OEM reference number used by remanufacturer).

I have the VIN from other posts Aneesh - and I generally only supply originals part information - it is then up to the OP to decide where they purchase from, or can simply use the correct part number to obtain an equivalent.

However as we have seen countless times over the years, ebay sellers and the like do not have correct parts information in a large number of cases which causes confusion. It's not for me to comment on third party supplier catalogues, but the part number is correct as far as Citroen is concerned and the right one for Spiff's car.

Good morning what a beautiful day, we have just bought a couple of metal detectors, so going to pop down to Dollar Cove : )

We shall be rich ?

Last time on Praa Sands we found lots of bottle tops and a light bulb, it was popped : (

That you all for the information regarding the correct sphere.

The seller just came back as copied below.

The listing did not mention if the spheres were front or rear.

Why I assumed they were front I do not know : )

They are rear as he says below, the OEM I assume would have been different anyway.

So for the wrong end.

Well now I know what to look for, thank you all : )

God Bless Spiff

I once again warn you, do not just go by Citroen part number if you want to buy from a remanufacturer.

The picture posted by "Givemeabreak" shows 5271H8 which is indeed the correct part number for citroen. But do note that it shows a 52 bar pressure (presumably for non-hydractive, 2 front sphere configuration).

The link that you point to is Lizarte 20.00.0100 which is 44 bars (for a hydractive car, which needs a third central sphere). Although the reference number mentioned there is 5271.H8, it is incorrect. If you put these spheres, it will ride very hard!

The only way you can correctly check the Lizarte sphere for your car is through their own catalogue.

http://www.lizarte.com/ficheros/ESFN.pdf

The correct Lizarte sphere for you car is 20.00.0103 (assuming that you have non hydractive (sport), with only 2 front spheres).

NOTE
Please check once again if there is no third front sphere in your car (below your engine area). In your vehicle characteristics citroen profile for your car it says "ACTIVE SUSPENSION: MANUALLY ADJUSTED ACTIVE SUSPENSION", which is different from what it says for my C5: "ACTIVE SUSPENSION: WITHOUT HYDRACTIVE SUSPENSION".

In case you do find a third sphere, then you will need to buy all 3 spheres otherwise you will never get a soft ride.

Good evening gentlemen, thank you for your interest : )

The car does have a sport mode button.

I will have a look under the front to see if there is another sphere.

I do not remember seeing one when I changed the front ride height sensor.

There is one in the centre of the rear sub frame.

There is an odd thing about the car with its registration.

The Reg number will not resolve on parts sights.

It has a note in the early repair invoices that the display with the speedometer was going to have to be changes as it was in Kilometres.

From what I have gathered it was first registered in France ?

The registration document says : -

Vehicle Details

B Date of first registration 01/ 06 / 2003

(B.1) Date of first registration in the UK 04 / 08 / 2011

Whether this has any bearing on anything I cannot say, could it be an odd one ?

The VIN again as on the reg document is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Might that be sport mode for the automatic transmission, not the suspension?

Right - different VIN Spiff!!! :-D

Ok, so now we can confirm you DO have Hydractive 3+ Spiff, with one Centre Front and 1 Centre Rear Sphere.

I will list all of the parts here so you have them in future:
Front Centre Sphere: 527616
385CM3 - 62 BARS
Seal: 527215

Front Corner Spheres: 5271H8
385CM3 - 52 BARS
Seal: 527215

Rear Centre Sphere: 527617
385CM3 - 45 BARS
Seal: 527215

Rear Corner Spheres: 527622
385CM3 - 44 BARS
Seal: 527215

So I've updated that VIN for reference Spiff, just as well you confirmed it. :-D

Good evening xantia_v6f

The sport mode button I refer to is the lower one in the image between the raise and lower buttons.

As far as I know one of the other buttons near the auto gear lever is to slow down gear changes to give more acceleration.

Yes, confirmed you have H3+ now Spiff, so Sport Button on suspension as shown.

There was obviously a mix up on the VIN, so now we have it confirmed finally. :rofl2:
