Ok, so here are the fault codes returned for this engine (DV6DTED), with particle filter.

Now one points to the alternator (again) but both indicate a failure connection issues in the data streams between various systems. We know you don't hae a Stop Start system - but these are just showing possible consequences of the fault if they were on your vehicle as part of any downgrade or backup mode that has been implemented by the engine ECU until the problem is fixed.

So I appreciate you got these from your generic scanner - but they can do very little. Erasing the fault won't make the route cause go away. So with these sort of systems issues, I would recommend you get it diagnosed using a Lexia with Diagbox. Given the recurring theme is the alternator in these - or the communications network, I think your best bet is to get it to the dealer. You don't want to be shelling out on these sorts of replacement parts without having the fault properly traced. As I think I mentioned earlier, some faults are symptomatic of others - but it is impossible for us to trace remotely on a Forum. At least you know what the fault codes are, the possible symptoms and backup modes you may start experiencing if the fault gets worse.

Many thanks for that Marc. I'll hand on the information to her however, I think I'll probably be right in anticipating her first question - "Will it be safe to drive to Birmingham on Sunday". Care to hazard a guess?

All I can say it that it is currently drivable as you have demonstrated - what is harder to predict is if there is a further 'knock-on' effect later on that causes it to throw a wobbly.

Just make sure she has recovery included in her breakdown cover - so at least she can get it back home, but I'm hoping it won't come to that. I would get it seen to sooner though rather than later.
