Dispatch 1.6 HDi question
Just collected my 10 plate Dispatch from the dealer today, on my way back, the wife was following me, and said as we pulled away for the first few hundred yards, there was blue smoke coming from the exhaust. It went away, then returned again, then disappeared. On starting from cold, after it had been stood for the whole afternoon, it won't rev past 2500 revs, when stationary. Its fine when driving, but not when stood still Problem?? Its under warranty for 3 months for engine and transmission.

Doesn't sound right... given this engine's propensity to lunch itself; I'd take it back and get a refund!!

I will be taking it back for repair certainly and if it doesn’t get sorted ,will ask for refund. Reputable dealer though so should be ok

Re: Dispatch 1.6 HDi question
They wont rev past 2500 when the handbrake is on and the vehicle is not in gear so that's normal. The smoke could just because its been moved around the dealer and not got warm before being turned off may just need a good blow out.
Re: Dispatch 1.6 HDi question
I don't think so Bick, It wasn't just a bit, she said it was for the first mile and then a few times on the way home, the garage concerned is about 15 miles away, so not local, it had a chance to blow out. I will take it out in a moment and see what happens then, and if its still doing it get back in touch with the dealer.

Re: Dispatch 1.6 HDi question
It could be the EGR valve for some reason they seem to play up on the Dispatch more than other 1.6hdi's
Re: Dispatch 1.6 HDi question
Been out for a run, little bit of smoke when I first pulled away, but nothing drastic, my neighbour was waiting for the bus, and i stopped and asked her to watch for any blue smoke when I drive past, after I drove past, she said there was nothing, so maybe it was just because it had stood for a while, , it has just been serviced too, so all the filters etc should be new. I will monitor it for the next few days, and if it causes any more grief, will be taking it back to get sorted. But does anyone know how to change the display from French and km,to English and miles? * now sorted, * rang the garage and asked them.

Mine shoots out black smoke when you accelerate past 3k revs... Are you sure it was blue, which is oil and not black which is un burnt derv. Not sure why mine does it though, so no help!

Re: Dispatch 1.6 HDi question
Blue smoke is usually oil is it not? How many miles has the engine done?
An engine burning oil is a recipe for disaster if the van has a DPF as clog soon fairly soon i'd assume.

If it's recently been serviced, have they been clumsy and overfilled the engine oil?
Re: Dispatch 1.6 HDi question
After a bottle of injector cleaner through the tank, the smoke seems to have disappeared thankfully.
