Particulate Fluid Warning how long do I have. What fluid do I use.

Post by crapday69 »

My Particulate Fluid Warning light came on yesterday when I filled the car with fuel. How long do I have till it has completely gone or is that it gone.

What fluid will I need to get for a 2012 1.6eHDi stop start C5 Nav. I had a look under the car to see if I could see the reservoir but I take it its under the back seat somewhere. How easy is this to fill and is there anyone in the glasgow area that could help me with the lexia.

Thanks in advance.

Gary.

The fluid usually needs topping up at anywhere from 70k miles

The type of additive you need will depend on the colour of the click fit union on the additive tank. No it is not under the seat, it is under th car next to the fuel tank protected by a shield/ cover.

Quantities are generally available in 1 or 3 litres and have to be suspended using a filler kit where th fluid is allowed to flow into the tank. You may even have a pouch type additive system where you simply remove and replace the new pouch.

You will also need a Lexia / Diagbox to reset the additive counter.

As for how long you have - it generally means now is the time to top it up or your car will inevitably go into limp mode with reduced power at some point soon until you fill it. Of course, leaving it will affect regeneration and your filter will start to clog up and that will lead to a blocked DPF. So don’t leave it too long!

Have a look here:

C5 after RP 12125 is Infineum F7995 - RP 12125 is 19/01/2010 - so this almost certainly applies to yours. If you post up / PM the VIN we can check for sure, and confirm if it's a tank or a bag. I'm in Lanark with a Lexia, so could probably reset the light for you.

Gary,

Just filled mine in the last month and it is an easy job.

The reservoir is besides the fuel tank just in front of the rear nearside wheel.

The tank is protected with a plastic cover has to be removed to access the filling point. Colour of the click fit is important so correct fluid is added.

The dpf fluid comes complete with filling kit.

I can't reset the service button until I fit a new battery.

Yours is RP 12967, so it will be the Infineum F7995, and should therefore have green clickfit unions on the connectors.

Where would I buy this from as when I google, I get the Pat fluid.

Dont know whether to do it my self or find out how much Arnold clark Citroen will charge as i'm supposed to get a 50% discount on labour and the parts at cost plus 10% as my son works there as a first year vehicle technician (with mazda not Citroen).

Eurocarcare is where I bought it. It cost about £140 including delivery, Citroen is £168. There are others on ebay from France but Eurocarcare is OEM

It is an easy job to fill the reservoir 10 mins max and about another 10 mins removing and replacing the plastic cover of reservoir.

Gary if you put Infineum F7995 in Ebay you will get results mostly from Germany and Italy. Eurocarcare is based in Derby so much quicker.

Just checked and it is the green connectors, so thank you :). Its a pain trying to get that plastic cover off. I had to make do with just pulling it down at the connector side. Will it have to come off completely to refill. Looks like I will have to invest in some wheel ramps to get the clearance. I still have half a tank left so i'm using the wifes car to which she is not happy with lol even tho she used my car for years.

Gary,

I put mine wheel ramps, removed the plastic cover and unclipped the green connector, attached the kit provided with fluid purple connector into the green click connector, take plastic pipe and push this onto plastic pipe on additive tank and place into overflow container. Connect red cap to infineum container and raise it above additive tank open valve and let gravity do its work. I put a hole in the base of the container to help the air escape and allow the fluid to flow better.

I hope this explanation helps.

Gary,

On my C5 it has only one connection. You use the green click connector, insert the purple adaptor and pipe supplied to fill tank and the overflow plastic pipe is fitted to the pipe coming out of the tank, with overflow container hanging down with clear plastic pipe in it to catch overflow of fluid.

Send me a PM with your chassis number and I'll check if its the same.

Mine has 2 connectors Kenny, BUT and its an lol but the 2nd one is at the front beside the electrical connector and this is the one I seen and tried to use but the purple adaptor did not fit. In a rage and panic I came up and posted a reply here but then deleted it in case I made a cock up, so I went back down and had another try, this is when I seen the second connector round the side beside the tyre lol. Your right though, not more than a 20 minute job if you know what you'r doing.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

Gary,

Sorry I should have said there was a connector next to the pump. Obviously, you saw the other connector which is at the sill/ tyre which is the one used to fill the system.
