Hi,
Not one of my cars, just had a call describing the issues - intermittent "loss of go, not responsive, doesn't cut out but nothing there" No dashboard alarms whatsoever. Owner has looked through diagnostic menu but nothing there either. Temporarily cured by ignition off & restarting. That's all I have so far.
I'll see the car tomorrow, hopefully have a drive and get some more info, connect up the Lexia, but for the meantime my first thoughts include MAF and possibly throttle position sensor - but they're not usually intermittent. Any vacuum issues would usually throw up a depollution alarm (and sometimes a few others)? It's used on short journeys most of the time so maybe include it's attempting a regen? Don't remember that causing it to be completely unresponsive though. Still, there's nothing on the dash to back this up, but I'm not familiar enough to say.
I'll post any codes and other info as soon as but any ruminations to start me off appreciated!

Take it for a good run - keep it in 4th gear to get it up to temp more quickly (if manual) and try and get it on a good stretch for a 15 minute run preferable out of town where it can have an uninterrupted spin.
If it is still playing up - get it on lexia and look for any logged codes - clear them, then re-run the global test, then take it for a spin and then re-run the test to see if it has logged any new codes, temporary or permanent.
Short of checking for any obvious hose leaks and giving the MAF a clean with some specialist MAF cleaner (be very careful and don't touch the sensor wire or that will likely kill it), a lexia will be he best way to see if it is not happy with anything. Unfortunately there are just too many variables without a diagnostic.

Hi Marc,
Thanks for that. It is an auto but there's plenty of space on the Norfolk roads for a good run. Yes, I'm wary of cleaning the maf too! But I do have some electrical contact cleaner & carb cleaner which leave no residue, so I'll pack them just in case.
Yes, that's very true, always tricky without some codes to go on. Hopefully can shed some more light later on.

I did mine with carb cleaner a couple of years ago and have had no problems since.
