Fuel cap sensor switch

Post by Bret Sinclair »

Got a 1503T2 for my 06 1.6 hdi C5 and totally wrong.
Phoned Citroen and they never heard of it but think it's a plug presence detect harness listed as same place on car from filler neck to top of tank. £125 !!!
Where can I get this from cheaper ?

What is it you are asking for? Your post is not very clear.
You say you've got a part and it's wrong - and then you're asking where you can get it from. So are you after a wiring harness from the fuel flap to the tank? A VIN will help too.

Ok, so I think we have some progress...

Here is the diagram for the fuel filler switch (Part No 2). So I'm assuming you need the wiring from that down to the tank...
Filler Unit Switch
Filler Unit Switch
So If I've got this right, you'll need part number 25 on the next diagram - which for your build number (RPO 10732) would be part number 6534 HY - which is 'Plug Presence Detect Harness'. This is currently priced at £103.99 inc. VAT from Citroen.

I hope this helps you with the part now.

But the one on my car has a black magnet on the top of the harness. Pic doesn't look same as mine.

That price is the live price now and includes VAT. It is £86.66 Ex VAT. Just to be clear.

The issue you are going to have is that they changed the harness from RPO 10948 - October 2006, to a new part (6534 NR) - so you'll need to watch out for this changeover if you are going to locate one second hand. I doubt this will be a shelf part for breakers unfortunately.

The only other thing I can find is this:
C5 MKII Filler Cap Magnet.PNG
(10) Permanent magnet.
(11) Contact.
The filler cap is fitted with a magnet and when the cap is closed, the magnet is opposite the contact.

Update:
If you look back to the previous diagram, there is another harness (number 26) - which is called the 'Particle Filter Harness'. Although that does not seem to go anywhere near the fuel filler cap, that's the only other thing I can see - that wire is part number 6534 NV and is £27.84 inc VAT. But as I said I'm not sure if this is the one.....

Is it the magnet or wiring sensor you need mate? I had similar issue with my old 2.2 hdi. Magnets were fine but sensor failed. There is a link on this site that showed how to make one from.a couple of resistors from maplins. Total cost less than £5. I made one n it worked a treat.
