Yes :-D I washed it, I didn't drove the car for about 2 weeks.

I fitted used ones.
Yes there was bad water signs on the old motors, I tried to open one and inside the electric part was ok but the other side there was like bad corrosion.

Ok, thanks, I suspected water damage - the X7 seriously needs an oil and grease bath I think - too many components failing because of this!

Cheers for the video, doesn't look too difficult to replace!
My passenger side wiper isn't working, just lifts an inch or so when the right one sweeps the screen.
Im going to need a lexia/diagnostic to see if it is the left or a problem with the right stopping the left slave from working. Does that have to be done at a dealer or does anyone know of a place in Leeds that could diagnose?
TIA

Anyone with Diagbox would be preferable, as generic readers may not have the detail.

Had a diagnostic check which confirmed the passenger motor at fault. Citroen wanted £300+, got one off eBay for half that.....an hour in the rain to fit and all good now!

OK. Less than 4 months after voicing my concerns in this thread, the worst has happened. The wipers have stopped working completely. None of this one side still twitching stuff. Both sides completely dead. Fuse in BSM fine of course. Strangely my Lexia is unable to communicate with the wiper ECU whilst being able to talk to everything else. Any suggestions as to where I start? Mine is a 2009 model so I will try the Citroen dealer but my VIN doesn't seem to have been covered by the recall and I won't hold my breath.

Hi Pete

They will simply replace the master wiper I suspect as that handles all the requests. I suspect if you have explored the fuses that it might be that it has just corroded internally as they do, but your was maybe a more total fail than a gradual one.

Thanks Marc
Could you please remind me which side is the master? The lack of communication of the ECU with my Lexia perhaps suggests that it has failed. Is it integrated into the master motor assembly?

Hi Pete - I believe on RHD it is the Driver side - see my post here:

So eventually got wipers going again. Problem was that they had a lingering death with several miracle recoveries. When they were working they were fine, no twitching of one blade or anything daft and full communication with the wiper ecu with the Lexia and no fault diagnosed. However when they stopped working there was no communication and hence no diagnosis. Tried replacing the 'Master' drivers side motor with a known good one. All was well........for a short time and then they packed up again. Must have been another short lived miracle. Eventually tried a replacement for the passenger side with another known good one and ...voila...all is well again. Moral of the story is don't go with your gut feeling - I was convinced the RHS 'Master' unit was faulty but eventually found it was the LHS 'Slave' than was shot.
BTW new ones would appear to be cheaper than Citroen here - https://www.allcarpartsfast.co.uk/peuge ... per-motor/ although I haven't used them - I got second hand ones.

My wipers stopped working new years eve 2 years ago in a storm.
Managed to get home and took c5 into local citroen garage who diagnosed the RHD drivers side unit needed replacing.
They also advised to replace the passanger unit as they said it wood soon fail and would have to pay for labour twice.
I said if it stopped working in the next 12 months i would just order a passanger side unit and fit it myself.
2 years on and still working. :)

As do many others, including the Vauxhall Meriva - I had to change the whole assembly on one of those, cost me £20 secondhand including the motor.

Recently did the same on my neighbour's 08 Plate Passat as the linkage had sheared. £15 for the whole linkage, including motor off eBay, s/h.

I'll not be buying a C5 X7 of any sort any time soon, that's for sure.

C4GP has separate linked motors

If you put them in service position and then watch them whilst they park back to normal, you will see that they don't move in sycn..... :rofl2:

I know the following do too:
C6
DS5
3008
407
I'm trying to see the reasoning behind it, when even on the newly badged DS range, only the DS5 has it.
