Xantia 2.0 16 V - Some AL4 questions

Post by lancia58 »

Hi

I hooked a Lexia to my Xantia to measure the line pressure solenoid at idle it was around 2.5 bar which is OK, I than engaged to drive and it didn't changed, I switched between N and D couple of times but the pressure read 2.5 bar. Than I engaged the R and the pressure read 2.8-3.2 bar which is the expected value. Than I engaged back to D and the pressure read 2.8-3.2 bar that is the expected value. Is this normal ?

I looked at the Snow switch parameter and it was always 0 although at the instrument cluster the snow light toggled on/off as I press the snow button. I looked at the sport switch parameter and it was always 1 although at the instrument cluster the sport light toggled on/off as I press the sport button. To be more prices when toggling the sport switch the sport switch parameter momentarily changed to 0 and than back to 1.

Is this behavior of the sport and snow parameter normal ?

Thanks
Zohar

The question is, are you having any problems with the operation of the gearbox on the road, or are you just poking around in the Lexia for fun ?

As long as the 'Sport' and 'Snow' lights on the dash are not constantly flashing together - I would leave it.

I once had a '98 1.9TD Xantia autp break with almost 300k miles. It had the usual AL4 line pressure solenoid symptoms, limp mode while cold.

With Xantia you can do a "reset button" for the gearbox, because it is enough to get rid of the fault with just cutting the power to the gearbox instead of the whole car.
I took a broken flat fuse, soldered wires to both sides and a base for the actual fuse and a disconnecting button. Then i plugged that in instead of the gearbox fuse and all i needed was a press of the button to get the gearbox working again :)

Bu the way that was the best application of the AL4 i've ever experienced, everything else has been sh*t

Hi

The 'Sport' and 'Snow' lights on the dash blinked ( switching the car on and off reset it ) and when I connected the Lexia I got the fault " Intermittent fault Regulating Pressure". At morning at the first 10-20 minutes after starting the car it looks like when the gear shifts for 1st to 2nd it stays for a very short duration at N ( engine rev increases a bit ) and than shifts to 2nd gear. I also noticed the same phenomenon when shifting for 2nd to 4th gear but it will not disappear after 10-20 minutes.

Thanks
Zohar
