Re: Ecu and bsi replacement
Thanks, the original problem is we think the ecu has been fried, the car is turning over but no fuel. I had a clutch and gearbox changed which resulted in this problem. I need the car for work so waiting for a matching set seems like a long long wait.

Re: Ecu and bsi replacement
I think it would be worth getting it diagnosed on a Lexia before you go down this road, as you might find it could be a fuel rail pressure issue.
Replacing these components may not be your solution and without a Lexia to diagnose the problem you might end up going in circles.

Re: Ecu and bsi replacement
Will most auto electricians have a Lexia that they can diagnose on?

Re: Ecu and bsi replacement
Ziggy I doubt they will .
I realise your car and engine are different to mine but:
This may not help but my older 2004 2.0 hdi wouldn't start - the engine was not recieving fuel. From what I can judge It seems to be an error within the ECU that was not (no longer) sending power to the low pressure fuel pump within the tank. To help get around this I temporarily ran a 12v cable to the correct wire to the fuel pump and to cut a long story short i still have the wire and the vehicle runs fine.
If you can't hear the pump running for 2 seconds when the ignition goes on, it could be worth trying this first ? The auto electrician could do this test pretty quickly .

Re: Ecu and bsi replacement
No LP pump on a 1.6 Hdi, John, so it won't be that...
Original thread here: https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... =3&t=59350 If you follow the links in there, you will see that it is not unknown on a Picasso. Ziggy doesn't say if they have tried an external earth as suggested.... If that's a fail, then sending the ECU off to BBA-reman to see if they can repair is likely to just as quick, and potentially less painful, then trying to find a matching ECU / BSI set and making it work.

Hi, yes we have tried the extra earth with no joy, would BBA-Raman be able to repair if it has been fried?
Thanks
Thanks

Used ecu from a breakers, that you send away to be turned into a born again virgin and then fit?

Re: Ecu and bsi replacement
Hi wonder if anyone can help. I need to replace BSI and ECU. I need bsi part number as I need to make sure I get right one. If I remove fuse box to get it will i cause issues with anything?
Also a lot of sets just come with bsi and ECU. I assume i can code any key to new bsi as long as it comes with key code?
Is it worth removing shunt fuse first to try reset or will this mess anything up eg lose config? Thanks

Re: Ecu and bsi replacement
First are you sure you need to replace the Engine ECU and BSI? What are your issues and what makes you think you need to do this?
To answer the question though, the Engine ECU nad the BSI have to be matched as does the transponders in the key fobs. So you will either need new key fobs to be able to open, start and lock the car remotely which willl have to be programmed to the BSI and Engine ECU before you can use them. You cannot use existing ones except the actual key blade that you can transfer into the new fob housing.
There is no code supplied with key fobs. The code you are probably referring to is the confidential customer code that was supplied with the car at new. This code is used to programme any new keys and is also the code partly used to encrypt the engine ECU and BSI. If you are replacing the BSI and Engine ECU - you will either have to have the fobs that came with that set too, or the BSI and Engine ECU will need to have been virginised and will then need to be coded and matched to the vehicle as will the new fobs you have using a diagnostic tool.
So really depends on what you are doing.

Re: Ecu and bsi replacement
Hi, I have a berlingo 1.6hdi with ecu missing. Is there anyway I can get the correct part numbers from the vin so I can just get a matching ecu and remove the immobiliser? I asked someone in Peugeot that I know but only number they could get is 1940GC.
Re: Ecu and bsi replacement
Are you planning on getting a new or used ECU?
If you want new it wont start the car till its been matched to the BSI with the security code.
If you want to fit a used one the options are…
1. have the immo function removed from the ECU by a specialist.
2. Have the immo data swapped from your original ECU by a specialist.
3. Change the ECU, BSI & a transponder chip from a matched set.

Re: Ecu and bsi replacement
I will buy a used one with the immo removed but as the ecu is missing I don’t have the numbers to match up.
Re: Ecu and bsi replacement
hello,
Can anyone from the Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire area program an ECU for a C5 Aircross? I have a new ECU but it requires online programming. Thank you.
