Yep blocked drains are known to cause quite a few electrical problems too. The water gets into the the cabin via the bulkhead wiring loom grommets and into the BSI on some vehicles.

When my berling was 5 years old i checked the scuttle and was amazed at the sh1t in it although the drains were not blocked.

I've noticed that when de-icing my X7 all of the scraped ice immediately goes under the bonnet and sits in the scuttle grille. Not sure if its a design flaw or not but if the drain gets blocked I can imagine it quickly fills with water.

It’s an OCD thing with me, because we live in a wooded area with lots of trees overhead I routinely scrape and pick out leaves from the grille, especially near the wiper bolts which seems to be the favourite place for them to accumulate.

Nothing underneath in the scuttle area though I’m pleased to say!

I have to park under trees. My scuttle is always filled with leaves, twigs, spinny-jinnies and cherries :(
Fortunately it hasn't been blocked yet. The only one that was was the GS and easy to fix.
