Has anyone ever fitted an Aux Water Temp sensor, such as this one?

Daughter's 1.1 TU Petrol C3 (2005) clearly has Electrical Gremlins (I'm thinking a dry joint or similar in the ECU) which is resulting in a false 'Overheating' reading, especially on long runs
Further to viewtopic.php?f=3&t=59057&hilit=sender I've replaced the Sensor and established to my satisfaction that it is a false reading.
I know there's a spare 'Port' available on the 'stat housing (the AC port is blanked off). but where would I take power from?
Modern Rubbish!
