Engine change
i'm thinking of changing my AX 1.1 Carb engine for a slightly bigger one. Anybody had experience on this ?

Replacing an engine in a car is a big job.
If you don't have experience with major engine/transmission works - you'll be facing lots of odd problems - realising you need either special - or at least Hi-quality - tools.
The point is to remove anything that prevents the drivepack to come out :
Exhaust downpipe
Driveaxles
Coolant hoses
Actuator cables
Electrical wiring
Engine mounts
This requires draining the gearoil & coolant.
Any fragile parts in the way must be removed - like headlamp units, radiator & air filter box.
The AX is no different from other FWD cars on such work - so you may gain from any FWD car owner's experience.
The AX uses the same 1.4engine as found in BX14 models '88 on - known as the type K1G engine. Differences are the carb setup - as I believe the AX14GT uses twin carbs - the AX14 is single carb'ed.
