1.4hdi running on 3

Soo I took the plug off no1 cylinder with the car ticking over, no difference. This injector was a little higher on the leak test, it's now been changed for another one and seems to be back to normal! I was worried about taking the plug off any injector so many thanks

Well done. Wish our problem was that straightforward.

We have bought a 5mm flexible magnet so we are going to attempt to drive the glow-plug tip into the cylinder and get it out through the injector hole.

After that it will be set the timing and take off the camshaft to get a good look at the problem.

I think maybe I got lucky but I hope you manage to get yours sorted. I'm wary of removing glow plugs after a nasty experience with a 1.9 306 with the glow plug behind the injector pump.

Hello to all.

All the rockers have mega wear on them - so will replace all 8.

Possibly the engine was badly maintained before we got our hands on it - it had only done 150,000 km.
Hope the oil pump is ok.

Havn't found the fragments of the broken rocker yet. We have removed the sump and they are not in there.

Will take the head off to drive out the glowplug tip - its not shifting when we use a punch.

Anyone know the standard head-gasket thickness on a 1.4hdi - or is it possible to see the notches with the head still on ?
