Several members have done so and think it is worthwhile - I am too lazy to bother unfortunately.
There are several threads on the subject but this one is probably the one that would be most useful at the moment.

I upgraded my C5 MkI to have cruise control. I mainly use it when I am on the motorway passing through monitored road works. The first thing to check is the brake pedal. On the transfer part (left side, up under the carpeting) is the section that takes the input from the right hand side, and then onto the brake mechanism (in the engine bay). There will be switches and wiring on this section. There are two possible wiring configurations, and (with one of these) two possible switch options.

Wiring option 1 has two pairs of wires, one of which terminates in a white plug, the other in a red plug. The white plug WILL already be fitted to a white switch (this is for the brakes lights), while there may be a red switch also fitted (which is the disconnect switch for the cruise control). If this second (red) switch is not fitted you can buy one and then fit it yourself.

Wiring option 2 has four wires ending in a single plug, connected a single switch on the mechanism. If you have THIS option you do not need to do anything to the brakes (as this switch is, in fact, two switches in one casing).

Hi lads, thanks for the input mine has the 2 plugs I have the red switch but no stalk yet I just wanted to see if anyone found it problematic I had it in a saab and found it really handy but it was an automatic. Do you notice any difference in mpg when its on.

I don't use it for the MPG, just for avoiding the speed cameras. I got my stalk from a scrap yard for around £15. You can use one from a Xsara Picasso, as it is the same stalk. You will also need to make a notch in the lower steering wheel cowling for the stalk. Once it is fitted you will need to hook up a Lexia, go into the driver switch module, locate the reference to cruise control, switch it from "Absent" to "Present", save that setting, and then (within the Lexia) test the stalk is working properly.

Be advised that the cruise control will only work in 4th gear and above, and over 40MPH.

In answer to whether it's worth doing - the answer is a resounding yes.

After experiencing it on my Mk1 C5 I resolved that any and every car would have cruise control. As well as the positives above I would also say that it makes for more relaxed driving for two reasons. The first is that you don't need to concentrate on the speed (other than making sure you respond to any reduction in speed limit!) and can relax a little bit more and/or concentrate on other things a bit more. Secondly, you can position your feet in different positions to reduce the physical fatigue that can set in after a little while.

I wanted to retrofit cruise control to the Xsara but it was six months too old for that. Believe me I tried very hard on that.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

That looks like the Peugeot stalk, which also has the "Limit" function. The C5 MkI does not recognise this function, so you would have one ON and two OFF positions. This one might be more suitable (unless you can find a friendly scrap yard near to you);

The stalk with the limit function will work in all other respects, just that Citroens do not support the Limit option. Peugeots do, but they need a bit extra (I think there is a switch on the accelerator pedal).

Both the MK II and the MK III C5 do support the speed limiter function as well as many other models, it's not a Peugeot-only function. Cruise will only engage on the MK II in fourth gear above 40 km/h (about 26-30 mph), but only at 30 mph on the MK III.

I did not know that. I am going on the experience of the cruise control on my C5 (which happens to be a MkI, as does that of Darbuck).
