Eurocarparts are totally useless IMO - I've used them 4 times and every order was either the wrong part, broken, poor quality or a re-packaged return. I'll never use them again for anything.

I think you'll be fine with them - and at least it's an original.

Temp sensor replaced all appears fine. However one question. This is the 3 pin connector however when disconnecting the connector I noticed there are only 2 wires the third wire a green one looks like its been cut at the connector but cant see the other end on the harness as the sensor works ive got power and signal so assume its an earth If so why cut it

Hang on I'll just re-check the circuit diagram - ok, so nothing to worry about - parts said the 3-pin, but diagram shows just 2 connections:
See 4005 - as you can see 1357 is the earth and 1366A is the engine coolant temperature signal.

It's possible they use the same harness for different engines and chop off the additional wire at the plug where not needed to avoid confusion (not!) :-D You have the right one.

Re: Temp sensor

Bought the sensor a few months ago. All was OK until about two weeks ago when the temp lights started playing up again jumping to the red. The Fan is running and car is not overheating, so have bought another sensor hoping this will rectify the issue. Surely the new sensor shouldn't fail so soon? mind you nothing saying the sensor was not already duff?

Any thoughts?

Re: Temp sensor

Ok still waiting for the replacement sensor and whilst waiting for daughter today I plugged in my code scanner and got the p0115 error.
I checked freeze frame and at the time the code was set all looks within spec IE temp around 150 fuel trim at -6 rev counter was around 1145 and speed 20mp.

What to check before new temp sensor arrives as the lights on dash go back to normal i'm assuming signal and power are ok to sensor how to check resistance on the wire without bricking the comp? Any ideas to save chucking sensor after sensor at it will be good gonna check the sensor i put in last time to confirm or not as the case may be that the sensor is at fault If not suggestions please

Cheers everyone and have a great New Year

These are the five P0115 codes that I have Bill:
  • Coolant temperature sensor: Temperature rise test
  • Engine coolant temperature signal: Coherence of the temperature increase
  • Engine coolant temperature signal fault: Coherence
  • Engine coolant temperature signal fault: Value received incorrect
  • Fault on the engine coolant temperature information not received by the CAN (Engine ECU)
If this fault is intermittent - I'm wondering if the last code might be relevant - in that the engine ECU is not receiving the information from the sensor - A good check of the wiring leading back might be in order. See if the new sensor resolves the issue - if not then it may be a break in the wire, or at the engine ECU plug end - you could always give the plug a spray of electrical contact cleaner and check the pin.

In terms of the 'Back up Mode': If a coolant temperature sensor failure occurs, the role of the injection ECU is the following:
To control operation of the fan at high speed
To control the lighting of the stop warning lamp on the instrument panel
To prohibit the control of the air conditioning compressor (AC/OUT) (where fitted)
