Can I turn off the 'SERVICE' warning without Lexia?

Post by Sloppysod »

Hi all, is there anyway to turn off the service warning message on my X7 without any diagnostic equipment?
I am on holiday and parked my car on a steep slope overnight, when I went to start it this morning the diesel had syphoned back to the tank and I had to crank the engine for about 20 seconds before it fired, also an error message appeared telling me I had low engine oil. I hoped that leaving the car for a couple of hours in a car park would have cleared the fault, but no. :(
The oil level is correct as the level is at the top of the orange plastic part of the dipstick, by the downwards arrow, but the service light is still on.
Any ideas?
Cheers Stu

It sounds like a temporary warning message to me. The type that come up if you run out of fuel. Those disappear after about five or so engine restarts.

The light will probably extinguish spontaneously after half a dozen starts, assuming that there's no permanent fault.

Edit: Paul beat me to it!

Thanks, I will look forward to it staying off.

The warnings stopped showing as mentioned, however, I did not count the restarts but it was somewhere around 5 or 6. =D>
Thanks
