I met up with an old work colleague for breakfast this morning, and was looking forward to a guided tour of his DS5 Hybrid - he's not shut up about it since he bought it a few months ago. It looked very nice indeed in the car park - bright white, glass roof, big alloys. After stuffing our faces, it was time to have a sit in it. Bloody hell its cramped in there! It made my C5 seem cavernous! The centre console is huuuuge, the windscreen pillars destroy the view to the front quarters, and I felt totally hemmed-in and as if I was in a car less than half its size. Not for me, ever!
My other mate turned up in his Audi S4 Cabrio - I'm buying that in October instead!

Welcome to modern cars. It's the crash structures that do it.
I had to shift a 2014 era VW Golf when we were moving in, and honestly wouldn't have felt safe driving it - it felt like I was trying to drive a submarine with how little I could see.
Make sure to test drive the Audi first... don't even think about it if you consider actually having suspension on your list of requirements.

If Citroen don't put their new suspension system on the DS5 in the future, i'm going Audi too as they offer Air suspension on some models.

It's like everything else - you quickly get used to it and it doesn't have much effect on you after a while - this is my experience with the variety of moderns I've driven as pool cars recently.
I didn't find the suspension bad at all on my Audi TT or the 08 plate A3 my friend has. I've not had the pleasure of driving her 14 plate A4 cabriolet yet.

Although I like the look of the DS5, I'm very disappointed its not based on the C5 platform (PF3) but just a C4 underneath (PF2)
And now that Citroen have killed off the C5 in Europe (and hydractive) I'm not sure what the large comfy car buyer can see in Citroen anymore. No longer do they have a USP.
Seems like only the chinese market is worthy of the "full size" PF3 platform these days.......
