Hi Folks
I'm new to the forum with a wiper motor issue.
I have a 2012 Citroen Relay that has an intermittent wiper problem. The wipers work fine in normal/fast speed operation as long as they haven't been on intermittent or wash/wipe mode, where they sometimes then 'stick' in the off position and won't then work in any mode for a period of time. Obviously a bit of a dangerous situation on a motorway in a thunderstorm. My wife recently had them on for 4 hours solid (with no problems), during showery weather, just in case!
I've taken it to a Citroen dealer, hoping it's just a replacement relay but apparently they don't have relays and it's a case of replacing the whole wiper motor at a cost of £422+.
I want to get it fixed before going to France at the end of the month but don't really want to spend that sort of money buying a new motor if it could potentially be another issue or solved in another way.
I presume also there are cheaper compatible wiper motors out there - any recommendations of manufacturers / websites to buy from?
Many thanks in advance...

Re: Intermittent Wiper Prob. on Citroen Relay
Normally, the wiper motors are only capable of three things:
- off/park
- run normal speed
- run fast speed
Intermittent operation (and wash-wipe) is usually controlled by a timer-relay, which is easily and cheaply replaceable.
Will be very surprised if you need a new motor!
Hopefully, someone here can look at the circuit diagram for you to confirm.
Wiper stalk/switch fault is another possibility.

Re: Intermittent Wiper Prob. on Citroen Relay
It could be like the C5/308 etc wipers which have a separate motor on each spindle with electronics keeping them in sync and controlling everything else (and I don't know if this is the case on a Relay). We need a circuit diagram, or parts diagram from servicebox.

Have a look at this thread, which was the result of water ingress - a clean up and re-seal solved the issue:

Re: Intermittent Wiper Prob. on Citroen Relay
Thanks for the responses folks.
I will look into the possible water ingress scenario. I've also just Googled up Servicebox (presumably the Peugeot site?) as yes, it would be good to get a proper circuit diagram to see if there is a relay that could be at fault. Unfortunately doesn't look like I can join the site as a non professional. Anyone able to view this for me please?
If I do need to get a motor is this the one do you think?: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-Citroen-R ... Swcj5ZXNEJ.
Nearly 10x's cheaper than what Citroen Dealership quoted me!

You'll need to post up (or PM) your VIN and your RPO number for me - I can't do anything without this.

Re: Intermittent Wiper Prob. on Citroen Relay
Be aware that the item in the Ebay listing is an aftermarket item and not original. The quality of these can be variable to say the least. I think that I might prefer a good (warranted for a certain number of months if possible) second-hand one.

Ian
Here's one for £113:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-Ducato-P ... 2128982031
The only other thing I could think of is the Comms Module (under the steering wheel that houses the wiper and indicator / light stalks. It is a possibility that the circuit in the stalk might be worn for the intermittent setting - but hard to say without a physical examination I'm afraid.
You have the conrod assembly unit as above - item 1 is the motor, part number: 6405 PQHere's one for £113:

Re: Intermittent Wiper Prob. on Citroen Relay
Ok Ian, so the part in the following link:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Front-Wiper-M ... xyOMdS-ofS
is stated here that it equals part 6405 PQ - which is the correct part number for your vehicle according to your VIN: (Click pic to zoom). This contains the con rod assembly and the wiper motor.
