Just a quick question on refurb of the Bosch VE pump, the one in the garage has already had the throttle arm removed without marking up. Is there any way to set the arm back in the correct position on reassembly or will I have to wait until the pump is on the car again and set it with the engine idling? (I made the mistake of allowing it to slip when adding the kickdown part to the other pump, and managed to reset that by starting the engine & turning the shaft slowly until the revs started to increase & backed it off from there until the splines lined up).

If there's a better method I would rather like to do that as it's a bit unnerving knowing a slight nervous twitch could send the revs up over 5k without any return mechanism. :D

not aware myself but might provide peace of mind to omit to fit the retaining nut to the leccy feed to the stop switch initially, for quick & easy 'stopping' if need be... maybe even have a rag & board to hand as a 'runaway stop' too.

Don't worry about runaway. Just identify the fuel cut-off lever fitted to all these pumps.

Good point made by both, thanks :) I feel a bit more comfortable setting the accelerator lever position by hand now, just need to find the energy to go and start work on the old pump now. Not feeling particularly great today but if I get a surge of energy later it shall be well used!

Oh and that pump in the photo looks gorgeous! Actually, just thinking that I vaguely recall not being able to find a stop lever on the original pump. it's definitely there on the leaking ZX one (and on the turbo-spec pump on White), just looked like a blanking plug on the original one though... Will report back on that when I have refreshed my memory.
