Xantia Brakes
Driving a Xantia again after having a C5 for 7 years i'm not sure if its me just forgetting what they were like or if there is something wrong. When i brake in the Xantia most of the time it feels very jerky, like the braking is pulsing on and off, so it makes me rock forward and backwards a lot. Is this how they are?

Re: Xenia Brakes
No, that does not seem normal. The first thing to do is bleed the brakes, as air in the system can have strange effects on a Xantia.

Also, check the health of the accumulator sphere and the Activa accumulator sphere...
The Activa is so hydraulically 'hungry' I've found below-par or flat accumulators can cause all sorts of oddities, including braking issues and much more than in conventional Xantias...

Re: Xantia Brakes
Even though the previous owned had all 10 spheres changed 1 year ago i was starting to think the accumulator sphere might not be great as it was taking 45 seconds some days (if left for over 24 hours)just for the stop lights to go off, which i know the Activa takes longer but i was sure it would not that long with fairly new spheres, more like 10 to 15 seconds for the stop light to go off is what i was expecting.

Re: Xantia Brakes
Thats what my activa brakes felt like to me. Not too bad, but even with new discs and pads it felt like the discs were warped. They worked well enough, just felt a bit odd to me. It also seemed to take ages for the stop light to go off when it was its first start after a couple of days.

Re: Xantia Brakes
Leaks at the lhm tank unions or the supply to the pump seem to cause pulsy brakes as well.

Re: Xantia Brakes
FYI....Checked tonight....my red STOP lights extinguish @ 18 seconds after 8 hours rest.
